I have updated MeeGo to kernel 2.6.37.2-8.43 on a Lenovo hybrid netbook,
but the wireless connection is no longer available. With the default MeeGo
installation (1.1.99.0.20110330) everything worked fine, but the configured
repository was no longer available and I have switched to a new one (version
1.2.0.90.12.20110805).
Could you provide a link to a stable MeeGo repository ?

thanks

you're using the wrong kernel.. netbooks should be using the
kernel-adaptation-pinetrail kernel which is 2.6.38 not 2.6.37 based

Hi

I have installed MeeGo 1.2 stable release and updated the kernel to
2.6.38.2-8.9 adaptation pinetrail but still the wireless connection is
disabled. I have checked in bios menu that the wireless is enabled. Does
anyone know how can I have a working wireless connection on Lenovo S10-3t ?

thanks

there's a physical switch on the case as well, I managed to get that
turned off by accident a while back and had "lost" my wireless that way.
can you check?

I recall seeing some posts on a Lenovo forum that said resetting the BIOS defaults will get the wireless working again. Simple thing to try, I have not tried it so I cannot guarantee it will work.

Don't forget the bios bug. Try resetting the bios defaults. This has
happened to me several times and to many people in the irc channel as
well.

This would be the place where it's documented:

is this one of the s10-3t's with a broadcom wireless?
we didn't have enough time to get the open source driver to work in 1.2;
should be ok in 1.3

Sometimes the Lenovo wifi card gets into a state where the rfkill
cannot be used to unblock the card. If this is the case, you need to
reset the BIOS to "Setup Default" State. At least on S10-3t it fixed
the wifi detection problem.

Check this thread:
http://forum.meego.com/showthread.php?t=2011&page=2

"Just tried to clear the BIOS from the GUI:
This worked for me:
At startup - press F2 to go into the BIOS
When in the BIOS:
press F9 to apply the setup defaults
press F10 to save and exit"

Hope that this can help.

No, it is an atheros wireless. I have solved my problem by restoring the
default BIOS settings (BIOS bug maybe)

It's been a while since I had problems with the lenovo hardware. Just
found the sollution:
http://installingubuntulinux.blogspot.com.br/2010/12/solution-for-lenovo-s10-3-wireless.html

Also, the wireless switch wasn't working and after reprogramming the
BIOS it worked.

Mine is the Atheros wifi card.

It seems that a BIOS reset solves the issue. Here is the post I have found:

If you want a "stable MeeGo repository" for a netbook, you should use the netbook release repositories, pointed to from the "MeeGo Source Packages" link on the release down load page. https://www.meego.com/downloads/releases/1.2/meego-v1.2-netbooks
You can find the both source and binary repos from the same link.

regards
Joel
